During this difficult period the villagers of Feckenham have come to appreciate the beauty of the countryside that surrounds them. This project is aimed at further enhancing that, for the benefit of all. We are three groups in Feckenham, looking after the Churchyard, the cricket pitch and Feckenham Field (the ancient monument beyond the playground). We share a mission to enhance and improve the community use of these areas together with their appeal to wild life with a view to encouraging biodiversity and conserving these ancient areas. Supported by WWT, we have a plan to plant wild flower meadows, take out invasive non - native plants and shrubs to replace them with native species, put up nesting boxes and create habitats that will encourage wild life, in particular butterflies, small mammals and pollinators. The area of the ancient monument, King John's Hunting Lodge, is in need of restoration. This with interpretive boards will make for a stimulating walk around Feckenham for all.

What we'll deliver:

• Plant 5 extensive wild flower meadows
• Clear brambles and make put paths through overgrown areas
• Remove dead trees and prune others to create healthier tree stock
• Plant native species to encourage native species of insects and birds
• Put up 20 plus nesting boxes, create 'bug hotels', hedgehog houses to encourage wild life
• Install information boards, and create a village walk that connects these sites

Why it's a great idea:

It will encourage wildlife and begin to combat the loss of wild flower meadows, loss of pollinators and reduction in birds and small mammals. Will create a walk for everyone to enjoy. Will preserve and renovate the ancient monument, King John's Hunting Lodge for all to enjoy. Will open up the Churchyard further to make it accessible as a community area, to walk through or sit in.
