Our aim is to make plastic-free shopping an easy and convenient experience. from your booking to your actual refills ● Book the electric van through our online site or Jump on an existing booking on your street. ● Walk out with your own containers or leave them at your doorstep with a shopping list. ● We fill them up, bring them back & you pay at your doorstep or online with an invoice. There is no minimum order as we really want to encourage people to shop plastic-free. The first van has been going around the Kentish Town and Tufnell Park areas of Camden and Islington councils since July 2019, generating high enthusiasm in the local communities and schools they serve. FAIR-WELL promotes healthy and responsible eating: All products are sourced from sustainable, environmentally and socially responsible UK cooperatives and businesses. Our main suppliers are Infinity Wholefoods & Suma.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
At the heart of FAIR-WELL is the local community. They are a social enterprise inspired by the way the previous generation used to shop – locally, without plastic, and convivially. FAIR-WELL 1st van, named Charlie, is an original 1970s electric English Milk Float redesigned for the purpose, which re-injects the aesthetic and spirit of the English Milk float communities back into their neighbourhoods. As bookings can be done collectively by a group of neighbours, a street, a local school or community centre, deliveries become communal events where neighbours meet, chat, and bond. Door deliveries also mean that no-one is left behind, as elderly or disabled people, pregnant women or families with young children can easily shop with them. During the recent lockdown, FAIR-WELL played an essential role in the community and many people saw deliveries as “their highlight of the day”, even if being seen through their windows or from within a safe distance.
Steps to get it done:
This project is the brain-child of 2 enterprising women; Jerilee & Claire. Both determined to bring easy plastic-free solutions and inspire their local community with low waste solutions. 9 months of brainstorming generated a soft launch in July 2018 limited in Tufnell Park. The service was then extended to the surrounding neighbourhoods in Sept 2019 and they now dream of being everywhere in London! All our products are organic, natural and plant-based and fair-trade because we value the environment, customers and peopleinour supply chain. FAIR for fair trade & fair price WELL for wellness for people and our planet FAIR-WELL to single use plastic!
