We run the annual Exeter Street Arts Festival this year we would love to close the high street to enable more spectacular acts in that space and let people reimagine the city centre without traffic.

'A city becomes a festival' Exeter Street Arts Festival is in it's third year. Please see our website for a full overview of everything that has taken place in previous years. https://exeterstreetartsfestival.co.uk/ This year we are looking to raise 30k towards a bigger and more exciting vision of what a city can be as a festival. One major aspect of this is to be able to use areas that usually have traffic flow and reimagine them with street performances , music and market stalls. In previous years we have sought and been granted permission from Devon CC and Exeter CC to have market stalls at the top of South St , and Castle St which has been beneficial to traders and festival goers as well as the festival itself. This year we would like to go further and apply to shut the high st for all or part of the day to enable bigger , more spectacular performances in normally impossible areas as well as looking at other areas of the city which could be brought to life with less traffic.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
A city doesn't have to be a grey , corporation dominated , dirty and smelly place. It can be just as much fun as the best festival you have ever been to , with colour , sound , flavours and music to delight the senses. Time to linger and enjoy rather than hustle and bustle. The mental and physical health benefits are well documented , we have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Let your city become a festival !
