This project aim is to provide 16-18 year olds with the skills and knowledge to pass on to the younger generation. The main goal is through weekly tutoring but it is more than just showing them how to tutor. It’s providing the skills they will need for the future and partnering with the clubs and facilities that can enable this. I hope to reach these college students about the world and finances all at once but in a way they can pass this information on. This will be done through an academy of students in college, trained in 5 aspects; tutoring, mentoring, finance, active citizens (named making your mark) and

What we'll deliver:

  • I will provide the tutoring training
  • I will ensure at least three schools and 3 clubs are actively involved
  • I will organise the training sessions
  • I will be a head mentor to all students who sign up

Why it's a great idea:

This project is a great idea because it not only gets the community involved it provides skills for young people and teaches them how to continue this for the next generation. Although the main focus is tutoring as a form of employment for 16-18 year olds, the mentoring, club inclusion and formal acknowledgment means this is just the beginning. The skills these young people are taught will pave their futures whether for their career, independence or expanding their knowledge on how they can help. For the primary school students this creates a bond within communities, enhances knowledge about culture and improves youth participation in clubs and sports. In the future I hope to work with businesses, scouts and universities as a way for this to continue and these students to have the mentoring even after they no longer work for or are taught by estrellitas. Any funds will go directly to equipment, training and a location for these students to tutor.

Steps to get it done:

  • 5 newly employed students
