Using Surplus Food, for the greater good of our community in Northumberland Park Ward, Tottenham.

Statistics tell us that Northumberland Park Ward is one of the 3% most deprived wards in England (that 'green and Pleasant Land' in the poem by William Blake). In reality, people are on a weekly basis going to food banks, Community Cook ups, Soup Kitchens and Clothes & shoes distribution centres. Our project will promote all of these services under one roof. Where residents have needs which we are not qualified to address, we will signpost them to the appropriate agencies.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It will help to alleviate food poverty. It will promote community cohesion in an area which is very diverse culturally. It will provide opportunities for volunteering, leading to workplace employment.
Steps to get it done:
We have identified a site which is currently vacant. We have experience in distribution of dry and perishable surplus food to people in need locally.
