The project is designed to achieve 3 interlinked strategic objectives: 1. To improve the playability of the golf course by dredging existing ponds that are totally overgrown, and renewing important drainage outfalls ….2. The beneficial results of the first objective will promote bio-diversity by encouraging a more diverse variety of bird and insect species to inhabit the improved ponds…this in turn will make use of the public footpath a more interesting experience to local residents….3. To engender greater inclusivity and participation, the development of new teeing areas on all 18-holes especially for children and other newcomers to golf (effectively a 'course within the course'). This measure will also be supplemented by providing golf equipment that juniors can use 'free of charge' when taking lessons, practicing or playing the new 'junior course', and by upgrading the golf practice area to more of an 'Academy' to enhance the facilities available to learners, especially juniors.
