Giving people the opportunity to imagine, fund & create projects that bring their local area to life
During lockdown, we saw how important access to greenspaces was for our mental and physical wellbeing. As we continue with Covid 19 restrictions we want to support families in Liverpool in achieving their John Muir Family award. We will set up an online group where families can access ideas to play and engage with their garden or local wild space. Families will get ideas on how to discover, share, conserve and discover their wild space together. We will share ideas on how to get closer to the wildlife on their patch. During lock down we piloted the idea and put 15 families through the award and had a party in the woods to celebrate where families could share what they have been doing. During the pandemic it has been hard for parents to get children away from screens and playing outdoors especially whilst parents are trying to work from home. Our John Muir awards lets families enjoy and achieve together and learn more about nature. People connected to nature feel better.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
- Connecting families together during Covid that can't meet to reduce feelings of isolation. - Supporting families in exploring, discovering, sharing, and conserving their wild space such as their garden -Encouraging families to enjoy and achieve together - Encouraging families to spend more time out in nature to feel better.
Steps to get it done:
Families will feel connected to nature and other families during Covid restrictions
