Musical workshops around a new musical “ Encounters” about mental health recovery leading to the performance of a large scale community show involving the public and people with mental health issues . Working on new songs dance and script.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
I believe in taking whatever caused you the most pain in your life, like getting a fine, for staying 6 hours at Tesco in Amersham, because I have no family or community and was getting over a lot of grief etc.. So instead of feeling sorry for myself, I am doing something to help lots of great talented people and others too, as we are all uniique, and revamping the musical I wrote in the 90's with more to it about combating lonliness and depression and the most important thing of all about friendships and community and support. So that's what I am doing. With a grant from Red Kite, we have started. Workshops are done during the day and weekends when there are not many activities around performing arts on for adults on a casual basis. The workshops are run by professional artists and musicians. Singing acting and dancing are great for people with Depression and to build confidence. It will help with lonliness and social isolation and help people come together. as well.
Steps to get it done:
Social isolation. A musical about mental health to reduce the stigma and highlight things with music and acting and dance . Providing people like myself with Bpd and thd Musical director who has Bi Polar with work and a way to also earn from our talents as we develop.
