We will run Relax kids sessions, a proven relaxation programme within 1 school close to Hassocks and 1 school close to Chichester. These funds are not being raised for 2 named schools as having spoken to many schools in the last year I know that many of them do not have enough space in their budgets to bring in programmes. There will be 6 sessions each term and 2 workshop style sessions. The project will include delivering a talk to the parents and/or on ways to support good mental health & well-being in our young people. Relax Kids aims to give children access to a variety of simple and effective techniques to use for relaxation, it can also provides an element of mindfulness and stress management. These techniques can be delivered in a holistic, child-centred, fun and creative way. Teaching our young people these techniques through the 7-step Relax Kids programme can give them the key to better mental health, improved self-esteem and greater emotional resilience.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project serves as an early intervention programme to support healthy emotional development. Early intervention can help to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors in a child's life. Early intervention in a child's emotional development can raise children's awareness of their own needs and recognise the needs of others around them. Teaching them how to manage their emotions during those trickier times can lead to improvement in their self-esteem and self-worth which in turn can help them to form more positive relationships with their family, their peers and the other members of their community. It can also lead to a reduction in the risk of depression and other mental health issues as they grow older which in turn can reduce the cost on the NHS for CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Services.
