We would like to convert a second hand coach into a mobile mentoring space that would run various projects targeted at young people. The first being 'Educate 2 Elevate'.

My project will involve renovating a bus (with the involvement of local young people) to provide a mobile mentoring space that will allow us to travel to different local areas offering young people (13-25) access to our 'Root Cause Mentoring' service. We will also provide our 1-2-1and group sessions, and workshops and programmes aimed at providing young people with technique to manage their mental health, master their mindset and identify opportunities from adversity (career and entrepreneurial). We will also offer career sessions and support our young people with their career development or business start-up (as we have already been doing) and look to do this in conjunction with existing services where possible.

The project will provide the opportunity for young people to access mentoring and support services in their local area without the need to travel. It will teach young people how to seek positive opportunities in adverse situations and will overall improve their mental health and career or business prospects. It will also provide a mobile space for other providers to utilise for a fee and will bring services direct to the young people in the community. This will encourage and support collaborative working amongst local organisations.

VolunteerElevate The Youth CIC has been working with social services, youth services, schools and PRU’s in Sandwell and Wolverhampton providing ‘Root Cause Mentoring’ sessions to young people who display challenging behaviour, are vulnerable or at risk of committing crime. We target BAME youths and youths from deprived areas (aged13-19). This service was proving to be very effective and was making a positive impact on our young people.
Due to the COVID -19 lockdown services were halted. In order to ensure continuity, we still remain in contact with our young people via telephone to make welfare checks. We found that many of our young people are struggling mentally with the drastic change and were missing our sessions and generally feeling anxious and stressed about the future.
Project Owner: Elevate The Youth CIC The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
