Creating beautiful community gardens and growing spaces that are, well, good enough to eat!

Blaengarw Idea stage

This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.

We would like to transform disused and unattractive space in our local area and create beautiful landscapes filled with bright plants and flowers and community growing spaces where people can come together to plant, grow and harvest small crops of vegetables to cook and eat. This will encourage healthier eating, using local produce and also bring back fresh home cooked meals. We are hoping to achieve all this whilst also adding even more beauty to our already breathtaking natural landscapes.

What we'll deliver:

  • Potential to create jobs
  • Sell some produce in the local Real Food Shop adding to our local economy, bringing shops back to our high street
  • Teach gardening skills from simple seeding to harvesting crops
  • Plant vegetables, plants & flowers
  • Run cooking workshops to cook with the fresh produce that the locals have grown to encourage home cooked meals

Why it's a great idea:

We believe this is a good idea because it will add so much to our local community from colour and vegetation to unused land to potential jobs for locals as well as boosting our community’s health and local economy.

Steps to get it done:

  • employ local people who have an interest in gardening, construction and the outdoors.
  • We will enlist the help of our large network of volunteers

We are asking for small or large donations from as many people who can spare it. And from anyone who can’t afford to donate any money to help the project to find any old tools or unwanted pots of paint etc you no longer need. We also value your time so any free time you have pop in to see us and lend a hand! Everything helps and we appreciate it hugely!
