Replacement of ageing and inefficient canal towpath lighting in the extents of Edgbaston Canal Tunnel.
This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.
The project aims to create a safe environment to encourage pedestrians (mainly students from nearby campus) and cyclists to make use of direct links to Birmingham City Centre.
The project extents provide an ideal opportunity to use LED lighting for both functional lighting of the canal towpath through the tunnel and architectural lighting to make the tunnel more inviting for general use. Could this situation benefit from a motion sensor lighting solution so that energy is only used when the tunnel is used?
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The project is part of the Birmingham Cycle Revolution project, which aims to embed cycling into the main transport offer and increase the proportion of cycle trips across the city from <2% to 5% by 2023 and 10% by 2033, through the development of a high quality city-wide cycle route network.
