We want to develop a vegan event that is about Weston: an awesome food and drink festival, that happens to be vegan. We want to leave a legacy of information, contacts and knowledge built on support

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

We are working with local groups and businesses to develop a free to attend locally focused high-quality vegan food and drink festival. This will be in the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 26 January 2019. We are experienced event organisers, but this is our first vegan event. We know that to make it a great day-out we need entertainment, engaging activities and variety. Our educational elements will be focused on food choice and nutrition. We know there is a gap in the event market for vegan event that he is focused around the destination. We want to work with Weston-super-Mare based businesses, including accommodation providers, to market the event regionally across the south east and south west of England in order to retract weekend visitors to the town. We want to leave a legacy of information, contacts and knowledge that connect local businesses and interested participants. We are seeking funding for the educational activities and legacy information.

What we'll deliver:

  • Deliver eat:vegan on 26 January 2019 as a free entry event
  • Provide high-quality and engaging demos, cook school and entertainment for free
  • Produce an electronic and printed vegan guide to Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset

Why it's a great idea:

North Somerset and Weston-super-Mare are great places to live, work, study and visit. We want to shout about how this is a food inclusive place to be. We know there is a gap in the event market for vegan event that he is focused around the destination: not a touring show of national brands - but an event that engages with local businesses and creates new customers for them. Weston-super-Mare has a burgeoning vegan scene and we want to turn the volume up on this - celebrating and showcasing success. This event and legacy is rooted in positivity and choice - we are not saying one food type is right and another is wrong, we want to share information and opportunities and let people make up their own minds. We will not be booking any charities, activists or lobby groups - this is all about food and drink. We will have a free drop in cook school, pop-up wine and gin festival, screen printing works and demo stage alongside 60+ local food and drink producers and street food.

Steps to get it done:

  • Book venue
  • Launch marketing campaign
  • Reach capacity for producers
  • Publish e-vegan-guide to Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset
  • Hold sucessful event
  • Complete measurement and reporting post-event

We are multi award winning event organisers and we will bring the same care, authenticity and focus to this event as we do to our other festivals.
