Our key objective with this project is to: - Help London emerge out of this covid-19 pandemic stronger, by supporting communities with employment and enterprise as many have lost jobs during the pandemic - Revive markets in East London by bringing themed market days that help and rejuvenate local economies and high streets - Themed markets that support BaME communities into employment/self-employment and enterprise - Support women to become market traders as they are underrepresented in market trading - Provide a e-commerce platform for the market traders to also be able to sell their products to a wider audience and continue trading even when markets are closed - Celebrate the diversity of London through these themed markets The themed markets will initially start in Tower Hamlets, then rolled out to Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forrest, Redbridge and hopefully beyond. Initially themed markets will be to recreate 'SOUKS', and 'BAZAARS' selling arts/crafts, clothing, food and other items.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Some of our much loved markets are struggling and in turn this is causing a decline in the local areas and the local economy. As a not for profit organisation and local residents, we want to help revive the local markets. Our proposals will being the following benefits: - Revive local markets creating local employment and enterprise - Help rejuvenate local areas by bringing a sense of pride and identity back - Help celebrate the diversity of London through these themed markets - Help BaME communities emerge from the impacts of covid stronger
