Many London areas have arts festivals . These grow every year. London does not have a proper dance festival its such a shame . I think East london would e the perfect place to host and grow this .

Commission artists and involve the community in a weekend of Dance to include classes and performances of all styles . To include possible collaboration with Chisenhale Dance SPACE, Oxford house , Cable studios, BOW boys school, better gyms, libraries , & Mile End Park .Utilising our dance offerings . This would be a large project to take place yearly . The ideal time would be towards the end of August, when people are thinking of starting new fitness courses etc in September . The ideal would be to collaborate with many arts venues in East London to put on both taster sessions for their up coming courses, as well as performances and community involvement . This would happen over a weekend using several spaces , and various genres of dance. The event could gain some income from merchandise sales letting space for dance clothes, shoes etc, and venues would benefit with the possibility of increased sales for their future programs of dance.

What we'll deliver:

  • Ask venues for collaboration
  • co ordinate program and dates
  • advertise and market
  • obtain dance teachers/performers
  • Put together web page info
  • collect stats from events
  • collect pictures and film material from events
  • Keep accounts
  • hire staging and gain park permission s
  • security for social distancing outside and looking after staging

Why it's a great idea:

Involves whole community Helps people to get fit and healthy Creates outreach Is inclusive Gets more people using our arts spaces and involves more people in dance especially if we can afford to have a stage in the park for shows . Brings others into our borough so local business benefit supports local talent

Steps to get it done:

  • booking the venues and dates 2
  • 6 poster and flyers for marketing (permission to post local council)
  • 5 contacting schools , local artists , and performers /teachers to take part
  • 7 putting program together - times classes performances
  • 8 online ticketing to control numbers in venues
  • 7 checking any other requirements - security etc
  • 9 social media marketing fill venues - promotion campaign
  • 5 volunteers on the day to direct people - ask venues etc
  • 10 print map of timetable and venues for participants - perhaps booklet if advertising can be sold to cover some expense
  • 4 go to see all venues before booking to check all facilities what's included times and suitability , staff etc
  • 5 to impact London advertise perhaps Metro , East London ADVERTISER
  • park permissions & venue involvement 1
  • staging and security 3
  • safety checks and insurance 2

This is a large project and a team would be required cover cover :- negotiations with venues and liaison co ordination of program and hire of teachers/ performers marketing and advertising budget , funding and accounts

This project is enabled for overfunding. If the project hits its funding goal before the end of the campaign period, any extra funds raised will be spent (in order of priority) on:

  • Payment for some professional workshops and performances to inspire people and also help promote the event by using well known dancers / teachers .
  • Perhaps other Tower Hamlets based spaces could be utilised.
