Eartham Village Hall is used by most of the very small population of the village or hamlet. It is used for such events as the annual Harvest Supper. serving of Cream Teas on two summer weekends, the annual Christmas party. open to all and free, and in addition can be hired out for private functions. With the old boiler the heating had to be put on at least 24 hours before a winter event. A new boiler will make it much easier to heat the hall in a shorter period and hence save fuel before any event that requires heating. We have occasional lectures. All events are normally open to all the village.

Why it's a great idea:

Eartham is a very small village with few inhabitants. We have a Village Hall Committee and a Village Club who between the two organise events and look after the Village Hall so that it is maintained in good order to be passed on to our successors. We have regular working parties to maintain the hall surrounds and cut back hedge growth. Last year we created two small lawns in front of the hall. Most fund raising it done by a small number of people and it will be the same people who will make pledges so any outside help would be welcome. Part of our income used to be from the hall being used as a polling station but recently the District Council have made other arrangements and that source of funding has gone.

We have been able to maintain the Village Hall in good condition since it was gifted to the village in 1977. We have been able to redecorate the exterior every five years and the interior about every ten years. The structure is sound.
