OUR MISSION: Empower anyone and everyone to take greening action into their own hands. OUR VISION: A world in which cities are more green than grey, and everyone can enjoy nature's benefits. WHAT DO WE DO? 1. Create resources – including step-by-step guides, videos and project starter kits – that anyone, anywhere can access and use. 2. Provide a centralised forum for urban greeners across the nation to discuss their ideas, challenges and learnings, and to bring people together to plan and take local actions. WHY WE'RE DIFFERENT Community-led greening initiatives tend to be based in one area and focused on hyperlocal action there, which they organise and carry out themselves (although residents can get involved with this). Dream Green, on the other hand, gives the power to the people. We aim to educate and inspire anyone, anywhere to take greening action into their own hands. Our centralised hub will provide everything you need to become a greening activist.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
URBAN NATURE BENEFITS 1. MIND, BODY, COMMUNITY How much nature we have around us dramatically affects our wellbeing. Areas with more greenery see less demand for antidepressants and reduced strain on the NHS, as the plant life and its properties result in residents who are naturally healthier and happier. Increasing urban foliage can increase children's IQ, reduce the local incidence of heart and lung problems, and has even been found to reduce local crime rates by up to 50%! 2. PLANET As well as benefitting people, increasing nature helps the planet too: cleaning the air, acting as a natural carbon sink, helping pollinators and increasing biodiversity. GREENING ACTION BENEFITS Gardening is good for the soul. It's been linked to reduced stress, longer life expectancy and overall greater satisfaction with one's life. Being part of a greening community provides people with a sense of fulfilment and belonging, as they connect with likeminded people to make a visible positive impact.
