Doncaster is different, we all know that. We are different, so we do differently. Join the movement!
We want to supply Toilets and a Tea Point Servery in the Minster to rectify the lack of such facilities in the Minster. For the thousands of people who visit the building every year, enjoy concerts, take part in community activities and services, as well as at weddings, funerals and baptisms it is a shock that no such amenities are available in the Minster. We will have toilet facilities for everyone including disabled people, baby changing facilities and the ability to provide light refreshments. We will provide a dedicated flexible space for wheelchairs, pushchairs, tables and chairs and be able to provide a much more welcoming and accessible social space for everyone. The Minster belongs to you, the community of Doncaster! We've done some amazing things over the years, but we need your help. We want to provide you with a much better refreshment and rest area to make sure we're fit for the future. The hard work is done and we're almost there. Every donation will make a difference!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
There is no drinking water in the Minster, facilities for making and serving refreshments and its a logistical challenge to bring water, crockery, coffee and tea etc. to the Minster. The Minster belongs to you, the community of Doncaster! We've done some amazing things together over the years, but we need your help. We want to provide you with a much better refreshment and rest area to make sure we're fit for the future. The hard work is done and we're almost there. Every donation will make a difference.
Steps to get it done:
We host many events which can attract up to 1,000 people, who need modern facilities and refreshments without having to leave the building. We have developed ambitious partnerships with groups such as ‘Right Up Our Street’ to deliver huge events like the ‘Museum of the Moon’ and the Tectonic light show. We have been delighted to welcome thousands of people from South Yorkshire and beyond to these events. These big annual events complement our day to day community activities such as our Community Choir, the Good Companions group, English classes for Asylum Seekers and Refugees, our new Dementia Café etc. We support many educational visits from Schools and College students, as well as providing an Arts venue, for concerts, recitals, exhibitions and conferences in an iconic building. We also attract many visitors and tourists who want to explore the history and architecture of the building or the history of the site. We are open every day with the help of our wonderful volunteer staff.
