Leicester City Council has allocated in principle an area of land within Aylestone Recreation Ground by Aylestone Leisure Centre to build a Canine Agility Gym. Ground by Aylestone Leisure Centre to build a Canine Agility Gym. We now need to raise the funding for the fixed equipment. We would like a special area for dogs that will include an outdoor gym for them. Dogs make such an improvement in peoples' lives by: Dogs make such an improvement in peoples' lives by: * Providing companionship * Getting their owners out for walks * Never arguing or even talking endlessly * Giving Unconditional love * Creating a still presence of calm * Protection and safe environment. So we want to give them something back and improve their lives as they have improved ours. This would involve agility exercises, training in wellbeing, doggy yoga and fun for them meeting other dogs and people.

What we'll deliver:

  • Fixed Agility equipment - like Tunnels, Jumps, Weaves, A Frame, Hoops, Log Walk
  • A special enclosed area for dogs.
  • A Great Meeting Place for Dogs & Owners
  • Green Space for training the dogs to improve wellbeing for dogs and owners.

Why it's a great idea:

This project is a great idea as at RECOVERY Assistance Dogs for Mental Health we have noticed that more and more people are suffering with Mental Health problems. Yet many of these people have dogs that are helping them to cope, get out the house and still enjoy life. We want people to do more activities with their dog like: Agility , Companionship, Behaviour improvements, Social Inclusion. We would like to provide a space where people can come and join in for free where they can improve their own and their dogs wellbeing.

Steps to get it done:

  • 12.07.19 LAUNCH PARTY FOR DIW CROWDFUNDING PROJECT
  • 02.09.19 RAISED £10,000 ON DIW CROWDFUNDING PROJECT
  • 07.10.19 START BUILDING THE AGILITY EQUIPMENT
  • 14.01.20 OPENING OF AYLESTONE CANINE AGILITY COURSE
  • 17.01.20 START AGILITY COURSES
  • 17.04.20 DIW AGILITY COMPETITION

This Project is being promoted by RECOVERY Assistance Dogs for Wellbeing. We have expertise and experience in training dogs to a high standard to help people to recover their independence. We want to improve our Agility Skills and help Dogs and their Owners to get fit. This project is for the wider public to celebrate the joys that well trained dogs can bring to everyone.
