Currently the village football team, consisting of 350 local children play all over the local area as the pitch in the village does not drain and is not fit for playing most of the season. With the parish council the club have had quotes to carry out groundworks which would create a playing surface that could be used by children from u6s to u18s as well as the cricket club in the summer. It would also allow us to expand to a girls team as well as expand out current sides. We are currently turning down a number of children as we just do not have the facilities to add teams. The club would become a central part of the village with a home in the centre of the village and allow us to expand sports offering all year working with the cricket club to expand their junior cricket. There are a lot of provision for the children who excel at sport but we offer sport for all and aim to keep children playing football from the first time they arrive as 5 year olds until the leave at 18. We would like
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Keep a commiunity football club in the village and football for 15 teams plus the ability to add new teams and a female side plus adult football. The cricket club can also use the pitch in the summer so extend their capacity for youth cricket. Davenham JFC and cricket club will start with 6 year old children so be an introduction into organised sport. The improved pitch will be healthy so will use rainful rather than flood meaning a shared leisure area for the whole villaged
Steps to get it done:
This facility will promote health and activity with 350 children and allow us to increase those numbers. This would be within walking distance so the children and families can walk to football while siblings play at the park, creating a central hub for the community. With the new pitch draining and using water to continue healthy growth the flooding the area has had will greatly reduce extending walks and wildlife routes for children and dog walkers. It can be a central point for village events and allow the community to come together in one shared space with children and activity as the centre of it. As the pitch will use standing water the cricket pitch will improve and allow the two clubs to utilise the space each had as the seasons do not cross meaning both clubs can look at increasing numbers or participants as well as increasing the activity the existing children can partake in. All in the centre of the village which will reduce the need for people to drive and promote walking,
