This space will be used to train,learn,teach,chill out and enjoy the vast array of material and resources that at present is not available at the local libraries.
Refugees can come and read bi-language early learning material ,polish up on language skills and attend classes too.
We want to create a space where ethnic minorities and the community will feel safe to hold talks workshops or entertaining events.
What we'll deliver:
- Electronic catalogue with borrowing software
- Shelving for books
- Staff enumeration
Why it's a great idea:
Lewes is are very middle class white historically oriented In the Sussex Downs town.
The energence of an ethnic minority population is increasing and the resource centre will cater for the needs that at the moment are not available.
Steps to get it done:
- Appoint a Librarian
- Purchase the resources needed to stock the resource centre.
We are in negotiation with various interested groups like The Lewes Supporters of Asylum Seekers and refugees to do a partnership deal with the schools and Universities locally so that we can create an interactive hub as a one stop shop to cater for the various needs of newly arrived ethnic minorities.Like a welcome centre and safe space.
