The Dance Speak is about helping individual’s (children, young people, adults) to regain their confidence, self-esteem, and fitness through techniques of dance, drama and expressional aerobics. We want the group to express themselves through techniques of physical interpretation to steer and channel any emotional deficiencies that maybe a contributing factor to stress. The project will run from the Deptford Lounge Centre, based in the heart of Deptford

What we'll deliver:

  • Fitness and Motivation for All
  • Confidence Building
  • Community Cohesion
  • Targeted body sculpting exercises

Why it's a great idea:

Dance Speak aims to focus on the emotional strain of facing daily challenges that consistently test emotional ability to mentally sustain themselves throughout daily challenges. We want to raise the aspirations of individuals in the community by providing a safe medium for them to engage in the performing arts and methods of expressing. The group will learn how to utilize their strengths, goal setting, character building, effective methods of communicating and the value of teamwork. These factors will provide the group with the tools to contribute to society in a positive way.

We intend to unite the local community by showcasing our works at The Albany Theatre in Deptford by inviting family, friends, local business, and the appropriate members of the Lewisham Council to support the work of each participant

Steps to get it done:

  • Weekly Sessions at The Deptford Lounge
  • Specialist Tutors
  • Weekly Monitoring and Incentive Based Practices
  • Sessions will be categorised into age related groups
  • We will accommodate all groups of people including SEN groups

The project will teach dance and keep-fit techniques, storyboarding, Drama, Vocals, routine synchronization, and fitness regimes. Our tutors who have the necessary experience to guide participants through their paces will largely support these tasks. To measure the project we will log the progress of each participants through ‘our visual diary’ to measure the effectiveness of our strategy. We have collectively decided to publically award and accredit all participants of our group through the arts award program to honor their efforts. We also want to grow as organization that helps members of the community empower themselves through artistic formats.
