We'd like to provide convenient, affordable and safe cycle storage for all residents of the three tower blocks on Grantham Road (and potentially for other residents of the local area too). Options might be to provide 'cyclehoop' type hangars or lockers close to building entrances, or to repurpose under-utilised space within the towers. Lambeth Council and Hyde Housing have indicated their support for such a scheme, and some matched funding may be available.

Why it's a great idea:

There are lots of cycle users in the Grantham Road towers - and could be more! Cycling is a great, convenient and affordable way to travel around London. TfL have created a cycle 'superhighway' on our doorstep which is great for commuting, and there are lots of quieter routes too. Of course cycling is also great for health and fitness! However, living in a multi-storey tower blocks, cycle storage is a problem. Options are currently to either park bikes outside where they are subject to the weather as well as risk of theft or vandalism, or to inconvenience other residents by trying to transport them in lifts. Storage within our compact flats is also difficult. Availability of accessible, secure, shared cycle storage would solve all these problems and encourage more residents to get on their bikes!
