The CrowdedCROSS Pedestrian Crossing System incorporates a Bluetooth-enabled trigger and a free user-facing mobile application that together, provide a simple method by which anyone can trigger a controlled pedestrian crossing without having to locate and utilise the button provided. This optimises safety, accessibility, and experience for the many that need assistance in navigating the infrastructure around towns, cities, and highways, minimising the potential stress and safety risk they may otherwise face. Aside from the core safety and accessibility functions, CrowdedCROSS for Highways provides a direct-to-consumer information system through its unique hardware, allowing a local authority or major venue to create additional safety measures and value for visitors such as approaching crossing alerts, maps, local support contact information and a full CMS system of delivery for local authorities to distribute content digitally.

What we'll deliver:

  • Equal Accessibility
  • Improved Safety
  • Contactless Experience

Why it's a great idea:

It has never been more important to offer visitors a contactless experience as they navigate and utilise the infrastructure around them. CrowdedCROSS opens up new possibilities of what infrastructure can mean to those the use it every day, breathing new life into the built environment through innovation. With CrowdedCROSS, we are introducing improved visitor safety and experience, at scale. There is a common theme with today's infrastructure that suggests that whilst it has been designed very well, it has been designed almost exclusively for able bodies. CrowdedCROSS, among other great emerging technologies, looks toward a more inclusive and equal infrastructure that offers the highest level of safety, experience, and accessibility for all, regardless of any disability or vulnerability they may live with.

Steps to get it done:

  • We aim to install our technology to as many crossings as possible.

CrowdedCROSS provides a simple, yet effective digital trigger that enables users to send commands to any controlled pedestrian crossing that is equipped with our unique hardware. This "Digital Trigger" can improve safety at the roadside for all users, offering a proximity-based alternative that allows each user to operate their nearest crossing at a safe distance from the roadside.
