The Walker Ground is the centre of the community when it comes to sport. Whilst we have access to 14 acres of green space for football, rugby, cricket and other sports, there is an increasing demand for indoor sport space for community groups and club. We have been approached by a number of martial art and fitness groups who looking for indoor space to run their sessions during the evenings and weekends. It is clear that there is insufficient space available in the community at the times require for they are owned by private organisations charge high rents and fees. The Walker Ground would like to provide additional space for the provision of sport and provide the community with a safe, sufficient and affordable space for our clubs and groups. Providing this new sporting space will promote healthier lifestyles, help tackle obesity and provide a space where people can meet and socialise.

VolunteerThe Walker Cricket Ground Trust is a multi-sports ground and registered charity whose purpose is to provide sporting facilities to the community of Southgate and surrounding areas. It has a substantial main Pavilion on a scenic 14 acre site. The outdoor sports facilities include cricket pitches, football pitches, a rugby pitch and four tennis courts. Indoors we have 6 squash courts, changing facilities and as well as a small hall on site which is used by community scouting groups and as nursery during term time.
Project Owner: The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
