Having experienced myself the difficulties and fears in getting out & meeting people I have found that wargaming as a hobby has bridged the gap & helped me to overcome a lot of my problems. I will extend the current activities I offer currently to help more people enter the hobby like I did myself & find an easier way of living. Socialising is easier when there is a common ground between people, this project offers an immediate link where you don’t have to worry about having something in common, you can socialise with others discussing aspects of the hobby as well playing games. The hobby helps to break down social barriers as well as helping with creativity through art and helping with reading skills, maths skills & overall increase your mental capacity for learning, anxieties are reduced and sometimes overcome. Currently the workshops are carried out in the main shop, this can be daunting for beginners so i want try and make this easier

What we'll deliver:

  • Expand into a larger premises
  • Create a dedicated hobby room
  • Create more activities that can be taken part in
  • Have a 'comfy' zone with sofas
  • Create better wheelchair access

Why it's a great idea:

This project is awesome because it helps not just mentally and physically disabled but also those who support them. Carers get involved with the activities and customers interact with those involved giving an opportunity for socialising where there may normally be resistance. There are many board games, combat card games and model games that can help with all aspects of problems people suffer with. Model building & Painting: Helps with creativity, fine motor skills, concentration, patience as well as giving pleasure and satisfaction. Wargaming: The player is immersed into a world where their decisions dictate what happens in the following phases of the game, it helps with decision making, mathematic & writing abilities through making army lists and working out dice results, reading and social interaction. Overall there are many skills involved with the hobby which can improve a person’s way of life and understanding socially and mentally

Steps to get it done:

  • Aquire premises adjacent to ourselves
  • Any repairs and renovations needed
  • Create stylised gaming rooms that offer inspiration
  • Create hobby room with cabinets where people can display their achievments
  • Aquire seating to create a chill out space
  • Aquire relavent art and model materials from our distributors
  • Advertise locally and within specialist services
