We have acquired a jewellers, hence #outwiththegold. This will be an amazing space to provide the community a hub with a difference! Downstairs will be a 'drop-in' shop offering local artists and crafters a space to sell their creations. we are looking to source second hand school uniforms , a coffee lounge and a crisis room for people who need immediate to access our mental health service . Upstairs to our Advice Information & Guidance centre where we will have 3 counselling rooms and a group/community/classroom. This room will be open 7 days a week providing the community with an internet cafe and a space where local groups can run their sessions The vision is there will be something on for people to engage in 7 days a week. Also there will be training, from Mental health Awareness and First aid and counselling skills to access to employment courses and IT literacy. There will be something for everyone . There is a court yard which we would love to make into a sensory experience.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Counselling in the Community brings care and compassion directly immediately to those who need it and by opening this project centre we will have the perfect base for our clients to feel the empathic sensitivity of all our approaches.. CitC North already runs to capacity so we know we have a service that works however, we aren't just going to replicate this. We intend to build on what we have learnt to deliver a range of interventions which will benefit the community, from saving time at GP's, helping the unemployed gain work and family matters therapy. Co-operating with other services and charities to offer something quite unique that will eventually offer a service 24/7. People who engage in our services will be offered the chance to 'Be a Beacon' where they can work and add value to the project with their new found skills and emotional maturity, boosting confidence and self worth. Our intention is to give our 'Beacons' a pathway to fulfillment and employment.
Steps to get it done:
At CitC we dare to care. In an ideal world there would be prevention before intervention however there rarely is an ideal world. We want to offer the next best thing, immediate access.. It is common knowledge that mental health services are at breaking point and at CitC we want to challenge and innovate to bring change There is no exclusion in what we deliver as our aim to reach as many of the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde residents as possible and beyond if possible or needed.CitC wants to be firmly at the heart of the community and by offering a range of services engaging local groups, clubs services.and training providers. this change will be both organic and inevitable. As a service we can adapt and react to our clients needs as we understand our community and to quote the W.H.O. 'where there is neglect, there is little or no understanding. Where there is or no understanding, there is neglect. Thank you for getting here.
