Whitchurch Cricket Club in its long history (1776) has never been connected to mains electricity. The objective is to raise funds to run an electricity cable and connect to the existing pavilion

The nearest electrical source to the club's pavilion is 250 metres which will involve digging a trench for the cable laying and mains connection. This aspiration has been on the club's agenda for over two decades. It will enable the club's facilities to used both in and out of season for the community and its thriving under 10 years of age teams.

Why it's a great idea:
The installation of electricity will enable us to use our facilities throughout the whole of the year. Training sessions, community meetings and events would then become possible.

VolunteerWhitchurch (Hants) Cricket Club (WCC) is one of the oldest club's in England. The first game was played in 1776. A number of grounds have been used in that period but by far the longest is the current ground at Parsonage Meadow. The Meadow has long been associated with different sports in the town, the cricket club moving there permanently in 1923. Like many cricket clubs WCC has had its ups and downs but currently the club is going through a resurgence. Over a hundred children enjoy various cricket sessions throughout the season. The Saturday/ Sundays adult teams play in the Hampshire Cricket League and friendlies respectively.
