Our products are handcrafted, good quality at competitive prices. As an emerging not-for–profit social firm we are committed to creating a business owned by its members, employing vulnerable and disadvantaged people. We work with people recovering from severe and enduring metal illness. Art is a catalyst for mental health recovery, Studio 306 offers commercial experience; hence creating a real world commercial outlet that assists vulnerable people and helps them regain confidence/self esteem and at the same time give them opportunity to break into the competitive designer world and /or get back into education or work.
Studio 306 has successfully provided skills development using arts and crafts as a catalyst for recovery to enhance mental health well being and recovery. There is a strong need in the current economic climate to support people who have been affected by mental health illness gain the confidence and motivation to enable them to overcome the stigma and stereotypes.

What we'll deliver:

  • To reduce the stigma, sterotypical views and discrimation against people with mental health issues
  • To support people with mental health and enhance their recovery.
  • To enable us to offer the diverse community quality affordable arts & crafts products

Why it's a great idea:

We want to support at least 12 new beneficiaries and 6 volunteers. We would like to engage marketing and public relations support for members to understand the world of competitive art. We want to enhance the brand reputation of Studio 306 for quality and to empower confidence in members, enabling them to market their skills and realize their full potential.
We will develop our marketing strategy to include more open day events, take up market stall invitations and to develop a catalogue to promote our products.
The funding will help us review how people recovering from enduring mental health can engage more in trade fairs and art exhibitions, in order to promote their work. We aim to increase confidence by showing the quality of their goods is high compared to other hand made products in the marketplace.
Members with little or no knowledge of art will be tutored by specialists who will support them by listening to their concerns and offering master classes to empower them.

Steps to get it done:

  • By promoting the Project within the community
  • Producing quality goods to meet family needs
  • Skills will be created leading to reduction in suicide and isolation

In order to support at least 12 new beneficiaries and 8 volunteers, we will need hands on project administration to do all the paperwork, such as order raw materials, effective Stock control/product costing and assist to organize marketing.

Members will be supported to maximise the exposure through online sales sites such as Etsy and EBay. Research has proven that 10-15% of sales can be generated with targeted marketing online.
