We want to continue to offer alternative play provision 7 days a week for families, with a discount for local residents, school and community groups. We can't wait to build an entire working-gear wall from wooden cogs, plus a giant buzz-wire and other exciting activities. We need help to provide resources for STEAM-based activities.

VolunteerMy family are originally from Hastings and wow – do I love this place. It’s full to the brim of wonderful, creative, inspiring and eclectic people. Born in Birmingham, I have lived in several places around the UK, but for the last 10 years, I have been very privileged to call Hastings my home.
Having always worked with children, I have spent the last 6 years working as a primary school teacher and private tutor. I have 4 wonderful children of my own.
In 2015, I realised it was time for a change. I have always wanted to work for myself so I started looking for inspiration… I didn’t have to look very far; my son, Jed.
Jed loves to dig.
I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if there was a giant indoor sandpit locally?”
After a bit of research, I found there weren’t many places like this in the UK.
So, the idea for Discovery Playground emerged… somewhere indoor, safe and fun to take your children; an alternative to soft play.
This year, we are starting small. I would love to open a much larger facility in the future, but financially not an option just yet.
I love being part of The Old Town and so pleased so that everyone shares our vision of play locally :)
