Haringey Delivery stage

£500
pledged of £8,569

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Extensive consultation with the community has identified the demand and need for the development of community radio in this area. Negative perceptions of Tottenham are held by all mainstream media but Regen will help to redress the balance, providing a platform for expression that will not only be heard but will influence policy makers and bring about some real change. Regen will offer individuals real opportunities for involvement and skills development as volunteers. This project will establish a new and free platform for communication for the most deprived areas of Tottenham and Haringey, it will address the challenges and opportunities associated with the digital divide, and will utilise new technologies to combat social exclusion and isolation. The project will serve all the residents, regardless of age, ability, or background in the borough of Haringey. It will also work in partnership with all projects, groups, agencies that provide services in this borough.

What we'll deliver:

  • media training
  • community radio
  • social cohesion

Why it's a great idea:

Regen radio will provide a platform for expression that will not only be heard but will aim to influence policy makers and bring about real change, offering a range of new services to some of the most vulnerable residents in the area. Our commitment to community development means individuals and groups will be supported and encouraged to get involved in the development, production, and presentation of programmes that will enable them to contribute their views and opinions on important local issues. Volunteers will be supported in all decision making aspects of the project.

Steps to get it done:

  • Getting studio equipment
  • Start broadcasting live
  • Live website

Our commitment to community development means individuals and groups will be supported and encouraged to get involved in the development, production, and presentation of programmes that will enable them to contribute their views and opinions on important local issues. Regen will create a new voice within the target community that: • shares common issues • breaks down barriers • is a conduit to new relationships • tackles negative stereotyping • celebrates lifestyles and diversity • Provide opportunities for young people to demonstrate their engagement with (and interest in the wider community) • Provide an opportunity for specific communities to broadcast information about services and activities to their own communities. • Bring information to families to help break down barriers that prevent them from participating in the mainstream. Create greater civic pride and a sense of community in the area. Regen will work towards: - information dissemination - awareness raising
