We are match funding with Brighton and Hove City Council to raise money for the redevelopment of a community playground. We want to make the community playground safe and inclusive for all ages.

In the playground the small apparatus is in the nursery playground and cant be accessed by the public. The small apparatus has parts where it doesn't meet health and safety requirements. There is safety tarmac that has lifted and has pot holes. There is also a wooden 3ft-4ft fence that has split and is rotten. It has fallen in the past. The small apparatus that doesn't meet health and safety will be going and the community will be getting a brand new small climbing frame that will then be in the public side permanently. In the main section there is a set of swings that has been here since 1980 (what a parent recons) that is missing a swing seat as it fell down and missed a child. The swing on the field is also missing a swing seat. The big apparatus has moved from its foundations.

Why it's a great idea:
This is a great project because the community playground hasn't been maintained well. The community has been speaking to the nursery and how they would like the playground more inclusive. The redevelopment has also been recommended by Sussex Police and West Sussex Fire and Rescue. Money spent on the playground would mean that the playground is meeting local safeguarding issues, health and safety and also meeting every child's needs

VolunteerMy First Friends Nursery was opened by the womens institute in 1969. The nursery recently celebrated it's 50th birthday. We take children that are 16 months to 5 years. Our children can be from the local community, from a refuge and the wider community. We take children that are Disability Access Funded, Pupil Prenium, 2 year funded and 3-4 year old funded.
We are apart of Fareshare Food Cloud which donates surplus food to the nursery for the parents to take, This has helped massively for our parents as we get a weekly donation from ASDA. Sometimes we have had parents come in and say that they only had a certain money to last for the month. We also ask the community if they have any clothes that are our age which we then donate to the refuge.
Project Owner: My First Friends Nursery The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
