The pitch will enable pupils and pupils from other local schools to work, play and train together not only during the school day but after school, at weekends and during the holidays. As well as getting adults on the sports pitch. The wider local community including local brownie, guides, beavers and scouts along with local youth clubs will also be able to book to use the space afterschool, during weekends and holidays. We already have a local netball team interested in using our site in the evenings. Sporting achievements and confidence achieved through sport is so important for future success. Not only physically but mentally as well, we are all well aware of the benefits of sport for our mental health. There is a huge restriction of team sports in our area, we are limited to what’s available in the larger towns around us. Being rural means there is nowhere within a 10 mile radius that can offer an all-weather, multi-use pitch.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This pitch would enable children to explore sport, setting up the foundations for a love of sport, fitness and success forever. With after-school clubs we would be able to explore a range of sports for children throughout the local area in a safe and specialised space. The area would be available to local teams and the whole community to bring people to play, enjoy and learn. Whether it’s Over 40s Hockey, Veterans netball, Ladies Rugby, Little kickers etc. We would be in a position to have a pitch for them all.
Steps to get it done:
Ibstone primary school in High Wycombe is a registered charity and have offered the space to enable this facility to be built. We would be using as many local companies as possible to plan and build the multi-use games area. To use the landscape to our advantage we would be looking at landscaping this area with steps which could serve as seating for an outside performance space. This will enable us to give our community a space to play collaboratively, develop sporting skills and techniques, as well as honing acting and public speaking skills. This project will provide a central location for the surrounding community to come together. We have secured £10,000 from the national lottery, we have raised £4,000 so far this year and we need to raise a further £21,000 by the end of 2022.
