Sound has been used as a calming or healing tool for thousands of years. Himalayan singing bowls (standing bells that "sing") have been used throughout Asia South Asia for thousands of years in call for prayer and meditation and are now being used to promote wellbeing. Sound healing is an alternative complementary sonic medicine designed to facilitate nourishing relaxation or deepen the process of transformation releasing uncooperative beliefs or patterns of behavior. Sound healing can help bring balance the emotions and quieten a busy mind. Most people feel calm and relaxed following a sound healing session. Sound healing can help influence brainwave frequencies, enabling a person to enter an altered state of consciousness, which is similar to a very deep relaxation or mindful meditation.
