The space will contain studios, print and photography studios, a café/bar and a flexible space for; events, performances, classes, workshops and community groups and exhibitions. We will create an exciting hub of activity and participation for diverse communities.

The space will be predominantly funded by the rental of studio spaces in the building to artists, designers and creative makers in South East London, additionally income will be generated from various ticketed events (music, comedy clubs etc), or paid use of the flexi-space. These would help fund non-profit events e.g. independent cinema, community workshops, charitable events, exhibitions and performances by emerging artists. The desire would be that all of the above would create a vibrant hub of activity for diverse London communities encouraging the participation in the centre of the elderly, LGBTQ, disabled, and various BAME communities, as well as everyone else.

What we'll deliver:

  • Open Community Cafe/Bar
  • Open Workshops
  • Organise Events
  • Secure The Building

Why it's a great idea:

Artist-run spaces are often the most dynamic and creative centres of activity in the community, ours aims to involve the diverse networks already working in South East London to make a hub for creativity, learning, participation and for fun. The centre would become self-sufficient establishing a place for artists and the community to engage, exchange and socialise.

Steps to get it done:

  • Opening for Events
  • Refurbishing the Hub
  • Equipping the Hub
  • Inviting Studio Artists
  • Lease the Building
