Loneliness and social isolation are two of the biggest problems our society faces today, rapid changes in peoples circumstances and living conditions often leads to Loneliness
There are several ways we can combat loneliness, we would like to
- create the space and a platform for community members to meet, work together to put forwards solutions to combat loneliness and other issues within their own community.
-create a team of volunteers to engage with the community door-to-door and get their views and encourage them to join the meetings and inform the community's work and actions.
- create community projects, to include community based activities, set up by the community and to their request, elderly visits and community projects to build a stronger more resilient community.
-work with other established organisations to provide information and resources available and work with the community and local government to bridge the gaps of community needs.

I worked in community empowerment projects in Africa, saw the positive results these project brought to the community, saw the positive changes it brought to the community, our communities in the UK are in need of projects that will facilitate better communication, networking and the creation of mutually beneficial relationships to become more resilient and to act as a platform for government services and change.

VolunteerCommunities for Communities is a charity and social enterprise combating lonliness and social isolation and their devastating effects on health and well-being. We do this by bringing people together in small community centres to carry out social networking, intergation and empowerment projects around neighbourhoods.
Loneliness can be defined as a subjective, unwelcome feeling of lack or loss of companionship. It happens when people's circumstances change, when loved ones and community members move on or pass away or due to changes of age or ability, it is one of the UK's biggest problems at the momemnt, affecting more than 50% according to recent research results.
Communities for Communities, aims to act as a community platform, bringing people within the community to services and opportunities available to combat lonliness and other social poverty issues and to empower and enegage with the community to shape the service they want and need.
We will do this by creating a community circle, led by a trained facilitator to engage and empower the community and collate their ideas and work with them towards social and community change.
We will start in Hounslow, expand to the rest of London and the UK based on our Hounslow piolt.
