The history of the area is screaming out to be told especially to the next generation. The Corringham Light Railway Society is committed to showing the local community the line that was at the heart of the community over 100 years ago.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The trackbed is still there to be used in many ways and it is crying out to be recognised by the local community again. The wildlife in the area have made the trackbed their home and the society would like to have specific points highlighted along the way that will inform the walker of what this area was for and promote the wildlife in this area.
The cycle and walkway being made available to walk on top of the old trackbed is something that should be exploited and used to the full.
Local school children have found the trackbed a joy to be using and their understanding of the line is just the tip of the iceberg.
Steps to get it done:
The Corringham Light Railway Society is committed to this project.
