By East London School of Music
The aim of this project is to make classical music tuition/music opportunities available young people and adults within the local Hackney communities and to support the staff who deliver the training.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
A non-profit organisation that was set up in 2014 - the main focus being what we can do to change the lives of the children/youth/adults within the Hackney community, encouraging them to do something positive and creative. The project will be delivered via the East London School of Music who will provide a series of specialist classical music training by highly trained tutors - at very low cost/no cost (for low wage/unemployed). The school welcomes beginners, intermediate and advanced. The first session will be an assessment and a friendly chat about the courses, followed by a series of ongoing music training sessions. Our free performance and Recital events are also open to the public and not just for the students who attend the music school. We welcome anyone who would like to perform at our events and the experience of performing in front of an audience is very beneficial for all involved. Students are also accredited with certificates of achievement for each graded exam.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
There are various studies that show how classical music has a profound, positive impact on the brain in that it can boost cognitive function, reduce stress levels and improves productivity. Therefore, the project aims to make various classical music opportunities available to the local residents including children and young people - at very low cost/no cost (to unemployed). We offer various courses such as musicianship training, workshops and masterclasses as well as classical concerts and recitals where students to pariticpate and showcase their performances and compositions. We host presentation events where students are awarded accreditation graded certificates via Trinity College of Music students - this also helps boost their confidence and self-esteem.. Learning how to sing and play a musical instrument is a very useful skill but we also want to ensure that students can have fun and enjoy whilst gaining music education.
Steps to get it done:
We have been offered 4 extra spaces to hire at Chats Palace, also the Wally Foster Community Centre may also become available in the autumn (2019)
