This FREE event, returning for the 6th year in its current format, is the borough’s main festive celebration providing fun and entertainment for all of the family. The event has grown year on year. Having started as a small hour long community event 8 years ago in the Nag's Head Shopping Centre, it has become a full street festival along the Holloway Road. In 2013 the event attracted an estimated 20,000 people, and this year we hope to see even more.
The town centre will be transformed for the day as the busy northbound carriageway of the A1 (known as Holloway Road) will be closed to all traffic between Camden Road and Parkhurst Road. With the traffic gone, a whole host of exciting activities and lively entertainment will be taking place from 11.30am to 5.30pm catering for all the family!
What we'll deliver:
- Programme 6 hours of live entertainment on our community stage, including local performers and groups.
- Bring real reindeer to the town centre once again (an annual attraction)
- Lay on a festive craft and food market
- Offer free children's activities in the local college such as card making, finger puppet making, face-painting, etc.
- Provide funfair rides and a climbing wall for children
Why it's a great idea:
The extravaganza is now the biggest Christmas event in Islington, taking place in an area of high deprivation. It offers an exciting opportunity to develop and grow connections with businesses, local artists and community groups to produce a high quality artistic and fun event and aims to involve as many local organisations and volunteers from across the borough as possible
The festive, fun packed family day caters for people of all ages and aims to bring the local community together, attract additional visitors to the area with the aim of them enjoying the experience and returning to shop and support the local economy, and improve the unfair negative perception and image the area has.

- working in close partnership with Islington Council, the Police, Transport for London and local businesses.
The aim of our group is to work in partnership to create a thriving and vibrant local economy in Nag's Head town centre. This event is the highlight of our calendar and provides an opportunity for the local business community to welcome new visitors to the area and showcase what we offer here. The event has become local tradition and it would be a great shame to lose it after all the hard work of the last few years to build it into the borough's largest festive event.
