We want to buy a place through Community Right to Bid, also known as Assets of Community Value, which gives people the chance to bid to buy and take over the running of assets that are of value to the local community. After we buy the place we will refurbished and design it into a perfect environment for Tower Hamlets Children's Centre to develop their activities. The vision of the Tower Hamlets Children’s Centre Service is to give every child in Tower Hamlets the best possible start in life through reducing inequalities and improving outcomes. The centres provide opportunities for children and their families to be safe, healthy and happy, so that they are able to reach their full potential. This will be achieved through the following targets: - Child Development and school readiness which will enable children to become confident and curious learners; - Raising aspirations and improving parenting skills; - Reducing health inequalities by improving health and life chances.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
A building or land can be listed as an Asset of Community Value if it will continue to be used for at least the next five years for activities which improve the social wellbeing and interests of the local community. Tower Hamlets Children’s Centre aims to give your child the best start in life. In here you will find different activities for children and parents. - Children’s Centres have stimulating play and learning sessions for your child to join every day of the week. Some sessions are designed especially for babies and other sessions for older toddlers. - The Community Development Officer (CDO) helps parents find the right training opportunities to gain new skills and qualifications that will make it easier to find employment. - Health services, like breast feeding and baby feeding support, advice on nutrition and weaning, oral health, sleep and routines and help with toilet training. - Family Support Workers offer parents advice when they are struggling to manage difficulties.
Steps to get it done:
All children’s centre activities are FREE! This is a huge demand as the children’s centre’s was running a program for about 50 parents and children every Friday which has been closed down and they have lost of toys locked away so children can not get access to them unless we find a place where they can play and the parents can learn. One of the parents activity is sewing class. They make clothes which are going to be sold to provide more community services and projects for kids. Our project for this activity is called EYSIAT. EYSIAT is an online retail shop for second hand and new products for the community, run by the community. By setting up the online retail shop – EYSIAT – Everything you see is a thought – we aim to enhance the chances to help more young people in needs. Funds raised will help us to provide structured training courses with a recognised certification, support for employment or business start-up to local young people.
