The Chinwoo Chinese Cultural Centre and Gym brings not only people together but a number of local areas. Located in West Hendon Playing Fields at The Old Master’s Gym in North London, UK, the centre led by volunteers from the Chinwoo Athletic Association offers those aged 3 and up a structured environment for teaching and learning martial arts, Chinese language and Lion Dance. Since opening its doors over 5-years ago, volunteers in the local community have been working hard to fund the centre’s development in order to repurpose a previously disused building – improving the local neighbourhood and open recreational space. With capital, the association would improve a further disused section of Old Master's Gym to support greater physical and mental wellbeing of the local community to attract new members who would also give back to the community by performing at festivals and events, bringing joy, good luck and fortune to all those around.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
One of martial arts' most valuable benefits is allowing you to achieve supreme physical fitness and empower you with achieving rapid weight loss. With crime in the capital on the rise, martial arts isn't just for protection and learning controlled self-defence, it's also great for overall health, physical and mental wellbeing – offering brain-boosting benefits. The Old Master’s gym provides a structured environment for teaching and learning this in-line with its three virtues – Wisdom, Benevolence and Courage. The Centre also provides the local community with a recreational space and equipment including music (drums, cymbals, and gongs) to study traditional Lion dance and learn Chinese language. With investment, the Chinwoo Chinese Cultural Centre and Gym would not only promote studies of the above, but it would also look to recruit new members of the local community to spread even more joy, good luck and fortune – keeping these traditional arts alive through regular performances
