We are a charity registered in England and Wales number: 1175485. For the public benefit to advance the education of children and young people aged between 6 and 18 years who are resident in the London Borough of Ealing in particular but not exclusively by the provision of extra-curricular tuition in subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science and the development of individual capabilities, competencies and understanding through interventions such as mentoring. The Aspire Academy & Tuition provide supplementary educational support for young children, many of whom are assessed with learning difficulties in the core subjects. We help parents who are home-schooling their children with structured learning. The project aims to rent a local allotment to bring English, maths and science from the abstract to the practical. Children will apply their skills on an allotment, using maths to measure and calculate, science to grow and study the environment and English to write reports.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Aspire Academy & Tuition Centre is an educational charity we specialises in coaching, mentoring and teaching GCSE English, Maths, Science and business development to children who need help in overcoming academic challenges. Our learners are practical learners who have to develop tools and skills needed to become better independent learners. Learners with ADHD for e.g, work within small groups and 1 to 1, to help them focus, improve behaviour, develop strategy to learn and successfully engage within their learning environment to achieve in their education. The allotment idea will help children make sense of the world and understand that skills acquired in their education, have practical uses. Children who are kinesthetic will have the opportunity to get directly involved in real time learning. We do not want to repeat the same system and methods that are already failing them. Once they understand the practical application of the subjects, then can go on to successfully achieve.
Steps to get it done:
This project will not only enhance learning, it will also bring new dimension into teaching and create a different perspective to assess learning outcome that can still work, with the national curriculum. There is no earthly reason why teaching and learning cannot be embedded in all activities outside the classroom. If children are to understand the practical application of academic skills, then it stands the reason to engage learners at the earliest, rather than confine them within a lazy structure we all know, as educationalist does not fit the teaching and learning model of cognitive development and more resources should go into alternative ways of learning for the many children who are on pupil premium that are failed by a lazy educational system, that does not work for all children. Especially in the core subjects of English, maths and Science. For e.g, in northern Europe pupils have ample opportunities to learn science from their environment, temperatures and negative numbers.
