Our main goal for this project is to encourage local communities to have a more prominent and active role in the environmental development of their public spaces and communities. Moreover, our second goal is to host at least one clean up per month within the Haringey Borough. Eventurally help other communities to set up their own local clean up projects and manage it themselves. Not only will this project inspire people of all ages to take part, but it will also bring neighbours together in a positive enlightenment about the benefits of recycling and keeping a clean envirnment. Through this project local communities will be able to put to use public shared spaces while taking part in beneficial community work. As this is a borough wide initative it is our idea to keep a low carbon footprint by using bicycles to transport the kits. The project will be incorporated with other environmental initiatives. This initiative will be run every month and groups will have too book for kits.

What we'll deliver:

  • Help keep environments clean through environmental clean ups
  • Educate local communites on the cost implications of not looking after where they live.
  • Bring neighbours together for a stronger, cleaner, greener and safer community

Why it's a great idea:

We have to lead the younger generations through example, therefore need to demonstrate the impotance of looking after their environment from young. In addition it is part of health and well being through exercise while carrying out the task, social inclusion, civic pride and creating volunteering opportunities. Volunteers will be thanked for their valued time through the Haringey Time credit; this can be used for a leisure activity with many partners involved. It is also time to appreciate what the LA are doing and their contractors i.e. Veolia. It is not an easy task to keep services going with the cuts still happening. Haringey will now be tackling fly tipping through the community and an organisation which is rooted in the amazing borough. This project will see other community initiatives activated to empower communities and strengthen community cohesion. It is all about the youth and their future environment, it is our duty as the older generation to equip them right; Ecology

Steps to get it done:

  • purchasing the equipement, branding them and launching the initiative.
  • first major clean up using this equipment
  • End of the year, handing to communities to run. Early November
