Cannabis Education Centre - The first in the UK. To educate and support Under 18s with Cannabis issues within the local community. We will support children through mentoring and support groups. We want to convert an old disused building in the town Centre, currently an eye sore and already in an area of redevelopment. We will open the Centre for referrals from Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Weston College, Local schools and also for group training sessions for various support groups (Teachers/Crisis Intervention Teams etc). We have a training programme designed to educate under 18s and groups on the dangers of continued use by a child. The Centre will also be a safe place for under 18s to come and discuss various issues such as drug grooming and county lines. In addition to this, under 18s will be able to access various activities such as self defence classes and to offer a distraction to Cannabis consumption.

What we'll deliver:

  • Make use of an abandoned building close to the Train Station. To decorate/paint the external building.
  • To offer a safe building for local under 18s to use.
  • Support the local Police Force, schools and college with referrals

Why it's a great idea:

Cannabis is all over the place. There is a real issue with it in our town, especially with the younger generation. Social Media and News outlets are offering all the positives of Medical Cannabis without educating on the dangers of recreational use. Children as young as 10 are thinking it is ok to smoke and use without knowing the long and short-term dangers. There is a serious issue all over the country and it needs supporting locally very quickly. We believe that Children should be educated on all aspects of use and given the opportunity to be supported if they want to stop using. We want to ensure our next generation are aware of all the aspects of consuming Cannabis, including potential long term Mental Health issues and social concerns. The Centre will offer somewhere safer to socialise, rather than the parks and the streets. This will help reduce the risk of under 18s being targeted by local drug grooming gangs, which has become a serious issue in our area.

Steps to get it done:

  • 2 Ground Floor windows replaced
  • Roller Shutters - Security
  • External Signage
  • Insurance
  • Furniture
  • IT Equipment
  • Centre equipment - Televisions/Pool Table/Games consoles

Who we are - www.facessupport.org.uk With minimal cost, we can revamp a building close to an area the Council want to redevelop already. We can support the community and educate under 18s. It is an amazing opportunity for North Somerset. The continued finance will come from a retro Cafe of Ground Floor, leaving the 1st floor for the Centre. The Cafe will hold up to 60 people at any one time. We will also have various other revenue streams such as training and events. Please get in touch to find out more. We have had the building accepted and will now gain support from the local community and Spacehive to revamp it to success.
