To transform an abandoned building into a Cannabis Education Centre for under 18s. It will be a safe environment offering education on the effects of Cannabis, Mental Health Support and Counselling.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
We are awaiting the final lease and planning permission on the building and are confident that this will be approved. In the unlikely event that this is not secured, no money will be taken from backers. We will keep you updated! Cannabis Education Centre - The first in the UK. To educate and support Under 18s with Cannabis issues within the local community. We will support children through mentoring and support groups. We want to convert an old disused building in the town Centre, currently an eye sore and already in an area of redevelopment. We will open the Centre for referrals from Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Weston College, Local schools and also for group training sessions for various support groups (Teachers/Crisis Intervention Teams etc). We have a training programme designed to educate under 18s and groups on the dangers of continued use by a child.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Cannabis is all over the place. There is a real issue with it in our town, especially with the younger generation. Social Media and News outlets are offering all the positives of Medical Cannabis without educating on the dangers of recreational use. Children as young as 10 are thinking it is ok to smoke and use without knowing the long and short-term dangers. There is a serious issue all over the country and it needs supporting locally very quickly. We believe that Children should be educated on all aspects of use and given the opportunity to be supported if they want to stop using. We want to ensure our next generation are aware of all the aspects of consuming Cannabis, including potential long term Mental Health issues and social concerns. The Centre will offer somewhere safer to socialise than the parks and streets. It will also be a space for under 18s to access various activities such as self defence classes and to offer a distraction to Cannabis consumption.
Steps to get it done:
Who we are - www.facessupport.org.uk With minimal cost, we can revamp a building close to an area the Council want to redevelop already. We can support the community and educate under 18s. It is an amazing opportunity for North Somerset. The continued finance will come from a retro Cafe of Ground Floor, leaving the 1st floor for the Centre. The Cafe will hold up to 60 people at any one time. We will also have various other revenue streams such as training and events. Please get in touch to find out more. We have had the building accepted and will now gain support from the local community and Spacehive to revamp it to success.
