Via the OpenReach community fibre project scheme we need to raise the 'gap' in funding for the provision of fibre broadband for the Scotia Castleton and Barratts Castlewell developments. In return OpenReach will install a fibre cabinet that will bring Next Generation Access to the area. There is no obligation to subscribe to BT after the installation (but, as normal, subscription to a fibre broadband service provider will be necessary for an internet connection).
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Bringing truly fast broadband to our community will enable our homes to benefit from broadband speeds sufficient to use internet services where currently we don't have enough speed to stream or download. It will enable local businesses to function in an efficient way, making the most of current technology. The ability to work from home will potentially allows those who can't 'go out' to work greater opportunities and for many people simply achieve a better work life balance, particularly those with young children or those less mobile. And finally, research suggests, super-fast broadband improves the value of your home.
