Our aim is to raise money to provide usable space for local, new, small business startups, arts & crafts activities, multi sport activities and access to skills training for all in the community. We are in desperate need of disability access in our building, currently there is none. A wheelchair accessible lift is a necessity for us to achieve our goals. We want to build a mezzanine floor to create usable space for new local business startups, arts and crafts activities and also a carpentry workshop along with the necessary tools, which will be used to help develop skills in the trades, starting with carpentry. We also want to create a children's garden area to educate our youngest people about plant life, vegetables, how they grow and where they come from.
What we'll deliver:
- Install a wheelchair accessible lift in our building and other disability access measure such as ramps, handrails etc.
- Build a carpentry workshop along with the necessary tools to help develop skills in the trades.
- Build a mezzanine floor to create an upper level that can be used by small local business startups and art & crafts
- Create an outdoor children's garden to educate our young people about plants and vegetables.
Why it's a great idea:
This is a great idea as it will help all the small communities within the Afan Valley grow and develop, become happier, healthier and better skilled. The Valley is dying. And without social enterprises such as ours, Afan Valley Community Enterprise, whole communities will become non existent.
