Cleaning up Mitcham Common and the surrounding area by organising a series of events with the community

I am aware the area is still developing I am stunned by the beauty and the potential of Mitcham Common. Unfortunately I am also struck by the fact that the area (and many of the green spaces around it) is covered with rubbish, including cans, plastic or even bulky items... It is extremely sad to see birds and wild animals and plants surviving in this dirty environment, and it is even more heart breaking to realise how all of this is actually holding our community back, and preventing the commons from blooming to their full potential. I thought a lot about this and I believe that rather than complaining with the Council demanding a proper clean up, it would be best to educate the community by organising a series of events aimed at cleaning up some the above areas. This would make people aware of the current situation and more responsible, hopefully little by little minimising the need for these external interventions.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Mitcham Common is a huge area full if beauty. It has a great potential to promote the area and it is a wonderful spot for locals to chill and rest. Unfortunately it is currently very dirty and covered with rubbish, including plastic and bulky items. This sadly destroys the feeling of walking on a natural cosy place and can be dangerous for children and animals attending the area. A well looked after Mitcham Common would attract more people, would help developing new amenities, including bars, cafe's and restaurants and ultimately would also help increasing the value of property in the area. It's important that people from the community get involved with this project as this would make everybody more aware and responsible.
