Blended Studios provides a creative space for young people and the wider community in North Tyneside. This space is currently used as an alternative education provision Monday - Friday 10am-14.00. The young people who visit us are some of the most vulnerable and challenging in the local area, most having been excluded from mainstream education. Blended Studios also work with older children and young offenders outside of our education times. We teach young people skills in the creative arts, such as music performance/production, videography/green screen, photography and graphic design/art. We also work on numerous projects within the wider community which makes the studio a fully accessible, creative space for young people and adults alike. We are currently applying for funding to purchase some new audio/visual equipment in order to better equip the attendees, allowing them to create great music and music videos.

What we'll deliver:

• To equip our music studio room with new recording equipment and instruments.
• The purchase of a brand new podcasting suite for attendees.
• New videography equipment to assist in the recording of short films which carry positive messages to the community.
• To start a new music development scheme for young talent, encouraging them to record, release and perform their music

Why it's a great idea:

We have had a lot of young people access our space in recent months due to Covid 19 and the effects this has had on their mental health, and social interaction. Engaging in expressive arts has proven to have made a huge positive difference to the lives of the Blended Studios attendees. The young people who engage in projects here now have a safe place at the studio where they can take part in activities which help them learn new skills which in turn can influence future education and employment opportunities. The studio gives members of the community the chance to operate, train and practice using media equipment that they may not have access to in their everyday lives. Blended Studios newest enterprise allows local musicians, vloggers, film makers, photographers and podcasters to use the facilities as a home to build their own amazing high quality creations.

Blended Studios are determined to provide a happy, safe and caring environment in which learning can take place for those in challenging circumstances. This environment will promote dynamic and supportive learning, meeting the educational and social needs of young people and adults; delivering an innovative education programme which is flexible and tailored to meet their individual learning needs and personality. Our aim is for the Young People to ENGAGE, ENJOY and EXCELL, promoting confidence and self esteem along the way. By empowering our Young People so they may progress their educational and social development, gaining personal attitudes, abilities and resources that will inform their future choices and expand their life goals.
