This project involves installing outdoor fitness equipment including climbing ladders, pull up bars etc in Bishops Park near the existing skate boarding equipment. It will be suitable for all ages, hard wearing and low maintenance. It would increase the health and fitness of users and provide fitness equipment in a safe environment. We hope it will attract users that are put off by the high membership fees of gyms. All the family can visit as Bishops Park, users of different ages can use the equipment at the same time and enjoy the other areas of interest within the Park. This could appeal to mothers with young children, older people, young children and teenagers as well as adults and 5-13 year olds. Body weight (calisthenic) exercise is becoming more and more popular, and this equipment will be a well-used addition to the park. Along with the exercise equipment will be seating, planting and landscaping. This project is supported by the Friends of Bishops Park and the Council.

What we'll deliver:

  • Outdoor fitness equipment on safety surfacing in Bishops Park for all ages and landscaping around it
  • Low maintenance equipment that the Council would agree to maintain
  • Provide a safe environment for all age groups

Why it's a great idea:

It would appeal to all age groups including families. It will allow all age groups to socialise It would provide a safe environment to improve health and fitness It is outdoors in a Park which has many other attractions and benefits It may attract users who may not wish to go to a gym Its hard wearing, low maintenance equipment including pull up bars and climbing ladders. The Council have offered to maintain and inspect the equipment if the funding can be found Bishops Park is a large Park and will attract local people and people from further away not just in the immediate area. It is located along the River Thames and is accessible from the Thames Trail and many local bus, underground and train routes. It is wanted by the Local Friends Group and is supported by Hammersmith Council who would like to see the project delivered too. There is a café nearby to meet up and there will be provision for seating and landscaping around the site. It will be free to use!

Steps to get it done:

  • Provide outdoor equipment to increase fitness of users
  • Provide an environment for people of all ages to play and interact
  • Increase users to Bishops Park
  • Attract people that may not use a traditional gym

This project can't go ahead without the support of the public so please pledge generously!
