Larkhall Park is a popular open space near Stockwell with a number of facilities. Although enjoyed by the community surrounding it, the park faces a number of challenges including; anti-social behaviour, littering, defecation of buildings, drug use, and sleeping rough. These issues have left the area surrounding the changing rooms in disrepair. This discourages people from coming to Larkhall Park and making the most of the available facilities. BIGKID Foundation is proposing to take over the changing rooms at Larkhall Park, converting them into a multifunctional youth club and office space, transforming the area into a community hub. We would like to refurbish the interior to create: • A BIGKID office • A youth hub/meeting room • Functioning changing rooms and toilets • A veranda style space. This will: • Make this area of Larkhall Park more attractive, clean, safe and secure • Offer a better service to young people and other park users
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project benefits the local community, BIGKID Foundation beneficiaries, BIGKID itself and Lambeth council. This project will rejuvenate the area by creating a youth club/community space that everyone is proud of. This will, in turn, help to reduce crime levels and and anti-social behaviour, creating a safer and cleaner neighbourhood. This project will benefit BIGKID Foundation and its beneficiaries by putting our organisation in the heart of the community we serve. This will allow us to grow our service provision, working with more young people on more programmes. Ultimately, our beneficiaries will have increased access to safe and positive activities in their local community. This project will also benefit Lambeth Council by helping them to achieve their goals for inclusive growth, reduced inequality and the development of strong and stable neighbourhoods.
